The Best Easy Hikes Near Sevierville for Beginners
We hear this a lot: “we’re not really hikers.” Good news — you don’t have to be, to enjoy some of the best parts of the Smokies.
Laurel Falls Trail This is the one we send almost everyone to first. It’s paved (yes, actually paved, the whole way), an easy 2.6-mile round trip, and it ends at a genuine 80-foot waterfall. It’s popular for a reason — kids handle it fine, and the payoff at the end makes the walk feel like a real accomplishment even though it’s beginner-friendly the whole way.
Gatlinburg Trail This one’s a hidden gem because it starts right in downtown Gatlinburg — no drive into the park required. It’s flat, easy, about 3.8 miles round trip, and it follows the Little Pigeon River the whole way. Good for squeezing a “real” walk into a day that’s otherwise full of shops and restaurants.
Morton Overlook Barely a hike, more of a short stroll to one of the best views in the entire park. If you want the reward without much of the effort, this is it.
One Tip From Us Go early if you can. The trailheads fill up fast in peak season, and the early light through the trees is honestly the best part of the whole walk anyway.
Blue Sage Hideaway sits close enough to all three that you can genuinely hike in the morning and be back soaking in the hot tub by early afternoon. That balance — a little effort, a lot of relaxing — is kind of the whole point of a trip up here.
